If you didn't already know, Chukar Partridges are quickly becoming the Upland Game Bird of choice for serious bird hunters. Utah's terrain and habitat is ideal for these hardy birds. The hunting season for Chukars started this past weekend and goes until the end of January and you can take 5 birds each day with a 10 bird bag limit. This past summer 13 new small game guzzlers were installed in Western Box Elder county. There are now close to 25 scattered around the southern mountains of Grouse Creek and the Hogups mountains. This past weekend, 500 pen raised chukars were released at numerous locations to suppliment the wild bird population. More about Chukars and the organization that is installing and releasing the birds can be found at: www.utahchukars.org

I wouldn't mind coming up and trying to find a few chuckers. Do you know the locations of these watering stations, I'm that would help on the hunt.

Bryan,

I don't want to post specific locations on the forum but generally speaking there are Guzzlers in the mountains just north of US 30. On the west side they can be found by taking the Winter Cabin Road and going west. On the east side, they are located north of the highway on the road to Mud Springs and on the South side of the Bovine Mtns. If you want more specifics, you will either need to invite me along, or PM me.
