Just so everyone is aware, there is a sign in the store indicating that it will be closed after 12/31. I have heard that Joann is interested in selling it for $75,000 if any of you are interested.

I was afraid this day was coming but was hoping it wouldn't. This will change the way we enjoy the area. You will need to either carry additional gas, go to Montello or Almo, or buy your own storage tank. I hope someone steps up and takes over it.

 Well, that just bites. I too feared it was coming, but hoping like hell it wouldn't. The store has been the heart and soul of the community as long as I can remember. Awww damn.

It's a sign of the times... sad too. For someone to effectively run the store they would need to actually live in GC.. With the lack of permanent residents and the population decreasing and the lack of development... aka new homes... it makes it hard and I'm sure it must be hard to find a buyer.

So all that said.... what is included in the 75K... how much land ? improvements ? Does it include a water share ?

I imagine that it will truely close as the price is on the high side... one must look at it realistically to make the venture economically feasable. At what point will the price drop to it's lowest.... and what would that be ? How long is Joann prepared to sit on it closed etc... Would selling off half a share of water keep the store open for a little longer ?

Many questions.

This is so sad, I can't imagine Grouse Creek without the store but people would rather drive to town than shop at home. Our parents supported the store they couldn't afford to drive to town and didn't have time. How times have changed.

Right now the store is closed. I am hoping someone will purchase it before the summer. I hate the thought of carrying gas with me all of the time.

Any update on the store?

I'm planning a couple of trips up that way this coming spring/summer and would love to be able to fuel up in town.

On that note, anybody have the contact information for the owner?

The store is currently closed and I haven't heard if anyone is in the process of purchasing it. I got 2 new gas cans for my birthday just in case. You can reach Joann at (435) 747-7371.
