For you who do not know, Verl & Delma Smith, Reed & Karla Beecher, and others have decided to put up a flagpole at the Cemetery. Well, the project has grown and is continuing, with the Base of the flag pole having been poured, and part of the rock work completed.
This is where you come in. We are going to work on the balance of the rock work next Saturday, October 6th, starting at 9:00 a.m., and we could use anyone who is willing to help out with the labor. The rock work is to be laid on a bed of concrete and will match the first part already completed. It's a panel of concrete and rock about 8' X 16', which needs to be laid. Reed and Karla also have a very nice concrete bench to install with the rock work at that time.
The latest and greatest "new" Embarassed flagpole will be here soon. But, that's a whole nother story. Embarassed
If you have it in your heart, and have some depth to your wallet, we could still use any and all donations for a lighting system and other costs for the flag pole project. You can contact Verl Smith or send your donations to him. Alan Smith the moderator here can get you in touch with his dad if you don't know where he is.

Thanks to all, and hope to see you Saturday 10/06/07 at the cemetery at 9:00

Chuck Kimber

I just found out there would be a "New and Improved" flag pole. Maybe you should relate the challenges you have experienced getting a flog pole for the project.

Thanks to all who showed up to help out with the flag pole project on Saturday morning. We were able to form and lay the final portion of the rock work, and we had absolutely no rock left, wow, that was close. At the request of Karla Beecher, we still need to pour some concrete in the corners for a flat place for the benches. So maybe at deer season, depending upon the temperature, we can finish that. It won't be a big deal to pour two small corners.
Anyway, those who showed up to help were Verl and Delma Smith, Susan Wirick (who is back in the Will now Wink ), Susan's grandson Braxton, Kerry Mecham and his son Jim, and Chuck Kimber. Thanks to all for your help.

If Susan is back in the will, does this mean that I am out because I wasn't there?

The rock work is looking good, but isn't there supposed to be a pole and a flag somewhere? Thought maybe we were changing this to a patio project. Rolling Eyes

OK, so the latest and greatest flagpole has arrived in Tremonton, and will be delivered to Grouse Creek, (Hopefully), oh please, please, please Embarassed , this weekend. So if anyone sees it just laying along the road somewhere, please pick it up, and take it with you to G.C.
It's the 25 foot aluminum model. I think during the lull in hunting on Saturday we may try to set it up.
So, whomever has the flag, keep an eye out Saturday for the pole to be raised on Saturday.
Depending upon weather, we may also pour the two corners for the benches.
See you all there, and hope you have a successful hunt.

Chuck

Ok ladies and gentlemen, here it is, the official raising of the flag pole. It was accomplished with the muscle of Kelly, Robin, and Chuck Kimber. I'll post a few more pictures in a day or two. Thanks to all who helped and contributed.

Chuck

Here is a picture of the Memorial Rock that has been placed next to the flagpole project. The Rock was engraved by Delma and Verl Smith.

Alan Smith and Tracy Boyd installed it Saturday April 26 with cement furnished by David Kimber and his co-worker (slave) Jason Kimber.
